This online course consists of three modules, which taken together will meet the 15-hour Clinical Supervision training requirement for supervising associate social workers (ASWs) as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
In Module 1, readers starts with the basics, or "building blocks" of supervision. Readers will learn the fundamentals to get started in clinical supervision, including use of theory, developmental stages in supervision, techniques, and law and ethics related to supervision.
In Module 2, readers will learn the practical aspects of supervision, including what makes a good supervisor. They will receive tools to practice supervision, including how to assess and evaluate a supervisee. Multicultural supervision is an important area covered in Module 2.
In Module 3, readers proceed to advanced topics in clinical supervision, including supervising for child cases and other special populations. Readers will further develop their supervision skills with advanced information on being a supervisor, along with gaining further knowledge related to advanced issues in law and ethics.

The three modules of this online course were designed to meet the California Board of Behavioral Sciences' (BBS) requirement that licensed clinical social workers (LCSW) and licensed marriage family therapists (LMFT) who supervise associate social workers (ASWs) obtain 15 hours of clinical supervision training prior to providing supervision.
