Course Description: This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of the elements and issues involved with HIV and AIDS, including definitions of both, transmission facts, epidemiology, how HIV and AIDS impact different populations around the world, and suggestions for social workers around case management when working with clients infected with HIV or AIDS.

The material presented is a synthesis of the myriad facts and sources of information regarding the pandemic and allows social workers to glean the information most important to them in working with clients who may be HIV positive or have AIDS. In addition to providing facts and important information for social workers, the course also contains vignettes that assist in the application of the material.

This course is broken into two modules, which may be taken together or separately. If registrants complete both modules, they will earn a total of seven (7) CEUs.
